Picking up a new pair of eyeglasses is exciting! But with so many different styles, you might find it hard to choose your new frames. Eyeglasses or sunglasses can be a great way to express yourself and show off your style. To help you decide, consider these eyewear trends in 2024:

  1. Cat eye glasses
  2. Chunky and oversized frames
  3. Interesting frame shapes
  4. Minimalist and streamlined frames
  5. Colors and patterns
  6. Transparent frames

Of course, if your style differs from these 6, feel free to choose frames that fit your personal tastes.

Trendy 2024 Frames

2024 is a year of bold styles and statement pieces. Whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist, there’s a trend for you. Let’s dive into 6 eyewear trends that are making an impact this year.

1. Cat Eye Glasses

Cat eye frames are a classic silhouette. The slim profile gives these frames a chic look, and the bold shape can certainly make a statement.

Cat eye styles vary in size, color, and pattern, and they can be full-rim or half-rim. You can choose cat eye frames to suit your personal style, whether you want something simple and sleek or bright and chunky.

2. Chunky & Oversized Frames

Big is in! There has been a shift towards chunky and oversized frames in 2024. At L’occhio, we carry brands like Ralph Lauren, who have been embracing the chunky style in their eyeglasses and sunglasses frames.

Big frames give you a bold and confident look. With thicker frames, chunky styles also give you more space to rock fun colors and patterns on your glasses!

3. Geometric Frame Shapes

Whether you’re going for a maximalist or a minimalist frame size, you can still experiment with the shape of your frames! The extra edges on geometric frames like octagon and hexagon glasses are a great way to add some boldness to your everyday look!

Traditional frames are also regaining popularity and trending this year. Squared-aviator frames have a bar across the top in addition to the bar that sits over the nose bridge. The top-bar style adds dimension and interest to your everyday glasses.

4. Minimalist & Streamlined Frames

While big and chunky is making a statement this year, that doesn’t mean that a more minimalist look is out. Many celebrities have been making minimalist eyewear trendy. Bayonetta frames, wire-rimmed, and even rimless glasses have been gaining popularity.

The great thing about more minimalist frames is that their more understated look makes them a great option for anyone. The sleek silhouette also makes minimalist styles more approachable and easier to style than bold and chunky styles.

5. Bright Color & Patterns

While black, brown, and tortoiseshell are still great options for glasses, color and patterning have been increasingly popular choices this year. Having colorful frames can be a great way to add a pop of fun to your daily outfits. Some fashion-forward individuals are even taking it a step further by opting for glasses with a gradient, bolder patterns, or even small decorative crystals.

6. Transparent Frames

If you still want to stay on trend but think color isn’t your thing, don’t worry! Transparent frames have been on the rise, too. Transparent frames can make eyeglasses interesting in a more subtle way than a bright and patterned option.

The Right Frames for Your Face

No matter what is in or out of style, the best eyeglasses are the ones you feel your best in. Part of finding a pair of glasses you feel confident in is finding the frames that work best with your face shape. Here’s a quick list of which styles look best on your face shape!

Oval faces are widest at the cheekbones with slightly narrower foreheads and chins. The main feature of an oval-shaped face is the length of the face. Choosing wide, angular frames will allow you to create some sharpness in your features. Geometric frames can be a fun way to bring angles to an oval face if rectangular frames aren’t your style.

Square faces are angular and sharp, and the jaw and forehead are similar widths. Thin, round frames tend to complement square faces. Round frames can soften the angles of your face, and thin frames will ensure that your features aren’t overwhelmed. Wire-rimmed frames are a great option for individuals with square faces!

Round faces have similar proportions to square faces but are soft, not angular, and are not as long as oval faces. Going for rectangular frames or bold geometric frames is a great way to add some sharpness to your features. Angular cat-eye frames can also be a great option for people with round faces.

Heart faces have wide foreheads and a narrow jaw. To balance out the forehead and jaw, you can opt for wide-width glasses or frames with wings. Choosing glasses with a wide, round bottom can also help balance your features. Rectangular frames and aviator frames work well for heart-shaped faces.

Diamond faces are faces with a narrow forehead and jaw, with wide cheeks. If you have a diamond-shaped face, oval frames will soften your features. Frames with a strong browline and a thin frame at the bottom can also bring balance to your features.

But these are just suggestions! Regardless of your face shape, you should pick the frames that you think you look best in.
